Elao Martin
ARCHITECT
Elao was born in northern rural Namibia and raised in Windhoek. He began his architectural studies at the Namibia University of Science and Technology (NUST) before relocating to South Africa to pursue a masters in architecture at the Graduate School of Architecture GSA and a brief internship at Gregory Katz Architecture in Johannesburg.
Elao has received numerous awards for his student design work including the prestigious Des Baker Award at the 2016 AZA in Johannesburg, the Unit 17 ‘Unit choice’ award at the GSA. And the 2018 Regional Corobrik ‘Architectural Student of the year’ Award for his masters thesis done in Kampala Uganda at the GSA. As a highlight, he was merited with an award for excellence as an ‘Emerging Voice’ in African Architecture at the 2017 Africa Architecture awards in Cape Town.
